Why Sponsor a Coptic Child in Egypt?
When most people think of “orphans,” they think of children in orphanages who have no family at all.
In fact, many orphanages in Egypt are filled with children who have families, only because their widowed mothers cannot afford to feed them.
This is an injustice, and defies God’s word as spoken in Isaiah 1:17, when he says: “Bring justice to the orphan; plead the widow’s cause.”
Coptic Orphans works with those who, taking to heart the words of Isaiah, are eager to be part of the blessing of changing a child’s life.
Coptic Orphans focuses on the children in Egypt who are most likely to face the deadly combination of poverty and social injustice, but who have the greatest potential to change their lives and the lives of others.
Through people of goodwill who donate and sponsor children, and through Coptic Orphans’ network of of over 450 Church-based volunteers and other local partners, fatherless children are getting the resources they need to stay in school and unlock their full God-given potential.
Just as importantly, Coptic Orphans enables children to stay with their family and out of orphanages – a blessing that, studies show, leaves them much happier and healthier as they grow up.
With the support of generous donors like you, Coptic Orphans makes a covenant with families in Egypt to stay with each orphaned child until the end of their highest education, as long as they also work hard to make full use of every possible educational opportunity they have. Our staff and volunteers also mentor and encourage each child to have a well-rounded character, a strong work ethic, and a powerful spirit of volunteerism.
The bottom line is that Coptic Orphans prepares each child with new skills and confidence, better equipping them to break the cycle of poverty and improve the lives of their own families, communities, and churches.
You are invited to become part of the Coptic Orphans family, and share in this great blessing! Thank you for your love, prayers, and support for the children. You can learn about opportunities on our Get Involved page.
